Meet James M. Paci, MD

James M. Paci, MD joined the Orlin and Cohen Orthopedic Group as the Director of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine for Suffolk County in 2018 and is an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He is a board-certified sports medicine orthopedic surgeon specializing in the care of athletes and disorders of the shoulder, elbow and knee.

Meredith Esswein, ATC

Meredith Esswein, ATC, is the head athletic trainer for Dr. Paci’s team at Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group. She graduated from University of Vermont with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2016 and subsequently earned her master’s degree in sports management from Pennsylvania Western University in 2019. Meredith has been a member of National Athletic Training Association since 2016. Prior to her time at Orlin and Cohen, Meredith was an athletic trainer at Portledge School in Locust Valley, Binghamton University, and Shoreham Wading River. She has also worked with another orthopedic practice in Yorktown, NY as their athletic trainer in a clinical setting.

Meredith was raised in Suffolk County and has spent the last 2 years back on Long Island. In her free time, Meredith is an avid OrangeTheory member and spends most winter weekends snowboarding in Vermont. Meredith loves being an athletic trainer because she gets to see athletes progress throughout their entire recovery and as an athlete herself she can relate and empathize with patient’s experiences.
